The Sims 3 “Supernatural” expansion pack introduces some mystical sim creatures including werewolves, vampires, witches, ghosts, fairies, and even genie sims (genie sims can only be played with the “Showtime” expansion). Although the “Supernatural” expansion for the Sims 3 has received some high ratings from sim players, it has sim players wondering why the “Supernatural” expansion pack has not returned to Sims 4?

“Supernatural”

Sims 3 “Supernatural”

The Sims 3 introduces some mystical and supernatural sims that contains a wide range of abilities for each supernatural sim. For instance, vampire sims have needs that differ from any other sim, meaning in order for vampire sims to survive, they must maintain their thirst by either eating/drinking plasma, or by simply drinking from other sims. Supernatural sims also have an increased life span that differs with each supernatural, which you can learn more about here.

Sims 3 “Moonlight Falls”

The “Supernatural” expansion also includes a map called “Moonlight Falls”, which includes locations such as supernatural hangout spots that might attract specific supernatural types, an elixir consignment store where supernatural and normal sims can learn more about elixirs and purchase them, and a fortune teller spot where sims can learn more about their destiny.

A Quick Look at the Sims 4 “Vampires”

Sims 4 “Vampires”

Although Sims 4 never released a supernatural pack similar to Sims 3, Sims 4 did release their “Vampires” game pack which brought back vampire sims. Similar to Sims 3, the needs of vampire sims differ from normal sims and their lifespan is increased to immortality. This game pack does introduce some new abilities and interactions that can be accessed by the vampire powers module.

The vampire powers module can only be accessed by vampire sims, which allows vampire sims to use their vampire points to obtain specific awards that will improve their vampire abilities. Vampire sims can gain these points by becoming more involved in the vampire lifestyle which will help them reach new vampire skill levels. Although vampire sims can achieve gaining powers, vampire sims are required to pick weaknesses with each skill level they reach.

Sims 4 “Forgotten Hollow”

The “Vampire” game pack also includes a new map called “Forgotten Hollow”, which only includes 4 residential lots and 1 empty lot. There are no available public lots to visit in this map other then the local spots, which can only be visited by going to one of the residentials.

Thoughts

The Sims 4 “Vampire Pack” does offer some cool powers, interactions, and features including the vampire powers module which I like a lot from this pack, but overall I feel that this game pack did not need to be it’s own pack. The biggest question I have is why EA developers decided not to bring back the supernatural pack? The Sims 3 “Supernatural” expansion had a lot more engagement then the “Vampires” pack, which makes me wonder why the decision was made to bring back only vampire sims? The “Forgotten Hollow” map also has little to no interactivity whatsoever with very scarce places to visit. I definitely think more could’ve been done with this map and feel the game pack is a sellout. I would’ve expected to see more with this game pack, do you agree?
